Introduce

In Commando (USA) NES, players take on the role of Super Joe, a lone commando dropped deep into enemy territory. The game is a classic top-down shooter where the primary objective is to advance forward, eliminating countless enemy soldiers and destroying military installations.

Super Joe is equipped with a machine gun that has unlimited ammunition and a limited supply of grenades. Grenades can be thrown a short distance and cause significant area damage, proving very useful against groups of enemies or bunkers. Players must skillfully maneuver, dodge enemy fire, and counter-attack effectively.

Enemies include various types of infantry, from regular soldiers to grenade throwers and snipers. Additionally, players will face tanks, fixed turrets, and other obstacles. Occasionally, you will encounter prisoners of war (POWs) held captive; rescuing them grants bonus points and sometimes provides power-ups such as increased grenade capacity or movement speed.

The levels in Commando are designed to scroll vertically, sometimes with small branching paths or horizontally expanding areas. The difficulty progressively increases with each stage, requiring players to have quick reflexes and sound tactical decisions. The game does not feature traditional boss battles; instead, stages often culminate in intense waves of enemies or specific targets that must be destroyed to proceed. With its direct and fast-paced gameplay, Commando delivers a challenging and engaging arcade shooting experience on the NES.
