Introduce

Columbus - Ougon no Yoake is a historical strategy and simulation game for the NES, putting players in the shoes of the famous explorer Christopher Columbus. The primary objective of the game is to recreate the journey of discovery and the eventual finding of the New World (the Americas).

Players will begin their adventure in Spain, where they must convince the monarchs to fund their expedition. This requires players to manage their initial reputation and resources effectively. Once support is secured, you'll embark on preparing your fleet, which includes recruiting crew members, purchasing provisions like food and water, and other essential supplies.

Much of the gameplay takes place on a world map, where you will plot the course for your ships. Weather plays a significant role, with storms capable of damaging your ships or lowering crew morale. Players must constantly monitor vital stats such as food, water, crew morale, and the condition of their vessels. If any of these stats drop too low, it can lead to mutiny or even the failure of the voyage.

Upon discovering new islands, players can trade with indigenous tribes, search for treasures, or establish settlements. Every decision, from choosing your direction to how you interact with your crew and the natives, impacts the game's progression. The game also features a financial management element, where you must report the results of your voyages back to the crown to secure funding for subsequent expeditions. The game demands strategic thinking, resource management skills, and patience from the player to fulfill Columbus's great historical mission.
