Introduce

In Championship Lode Runner, players control a small character tasked with collecting all the gold bars scattered throughout each level. Each screen is a complex maze of platforms, ladders, and destructible blocks. The primary objective is to collect all the gold, then find your way to the exit which opens once all gold has been gathered. This is a puzzle-platformer that demands strategic thinking and quick reflexes.

Your main adversaries are the guard enemies (Bungelings) who move freely around the screen. If they touch you, you lose a life. To deal with them, your character has the special ability to dig holes. You can dig a hole in the ground immediately to your left or right. When a guard falls into a hole, they will be temporarily trapped, allowing you to run over them or wait for them to be buried and reappear at a random location at the top of the screen. However, if you fall into a hole yourself with no escape, you will also lose a life.

The biggest difference of Championship Lode Runner compared to the original version is its significantly increased difficulty. The 50 levels are specifically designed to challenge even the most seasoned Lode Runner players. Many levels require players to execute very precise action sequences, timing their digs and movements perfectly. There are situations where you must dig holes for guards to fall into, collect gold from their heads, or even use guards to create new paths. The game lacks a mid-level save mechanism, making each playthrough a tough challenge. The ultimate goal is to complete all 50 levels with a limited number of lives, demanding exceptional patience and skill.
