MetaFight EX (Japan) (GBC)

MetaFight EX is a unique action-adventure game for the Game Boy Color, renowned for its innovative dual gameplay mechanics. Players will alternately control two different entities to explore a vast and dangerous underground world.

For a significant portion of the game, you will command an advanced combat tank called the Metal Attacker (also known as SOPHIA in other versions) from a top-down perspective. In this mode, you navigate through overworld areas, overcoming obstacles, defeating enemies, and seeking entrances to dungeons. The tank can be upgraded with various weapons and abilities, helping you contend with increasingly challenging threats.

Upon entering dungeons or smaller indoor areas, the gameplay transitions to a side-scrolling view, where you control the protagonist, Jason, on foot. Jason is equipped with a gun whose power can be upgraded, allowing him to battle fierce mutated creatures up close. Dungeons are typically filled with obstacles, minor puzzles, and notably, challenging boss encounters.

The primary objective of MetaFight EX is to explore, collect power-up items, uncover the secrets of the underground world, and ultimately defeat all bosses to progress further. The EX version on GBC features colorized graphics and minor improvements over the original Famicom release, delivering a more vibrant classic adventure experience.
