Macross 7 - Ginga no Heart o Furuwasero!! is a unique GBC game that combines music, strategy, and adventure elements based on the popular Macross 7 anime series. Players take on the role of Basara Nekki, the lead vocalist of the band Fire Bomber, with the mission to spread his music across the galaxy to combat the Protodeviln threat.
The core gameplay revolves around musical performances. In each stage, you'll need to perform rhythm actions according to the music, similar to traditional music games. However, the strategic element is key: you must choose the right song at the right time and utilize Basara's "music spirit" (represented by an energy bar) to influence opponents and the audience. Successful performances not only increase your score but also weaken enemies and boost morale for your allies.
Beyond the musical segments, the game also features visual novel-style dialogue sections where players interact with band members and other characters. Choices made in dialogue can affect the story's progression or Fire Bomber's performance in subsequent concerts. The ultimate goal is to use the power of music to "shake the hearts" of the Protodeviln, forcing them to retreat or transform, thereby protecting peace in the galaxy.
