Introduce
Game & Watch Gallery is a collection of classic Nintendo Game & Watch handheld electronic games, reimagined for the Game Boy system. The game offers two main modes for each title: "Original" and "Modern".
In "Original" mode, players experience the games exactly as they were in their initial Game & Watch release, featuring simple, monochrome graphics and basic controls. The primary objective is to achieve the highest possible score by performing repetitive actions at an increasing pace, while avoiding mistakes.
The "Modern" mode is a highlight of Game & Watch Gallery, incorporating beloved Nintendo characters like Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Princess Peach into the classic games. For instance, in "Manhole", Mario replaces the original character catching pedestrians. "Oil Panic" features Mario and Toad dealing with oil spills, while "Octopus" has Mario diving for treasure. Modern versions typically boast more colorful graphics (especially on GBC), livelier sound, and sometimes minor gameplay tweaks to suit the new characters. The goal remains high scores, but with a fresh, iconic Nintendo look and feel. Each game features its own high score table, encouraging players to continuously improve their performance.
