Introduce

Battleship (USA, Europe) (GBC) is a digital adaptation of the classic naval combat strategy game, bringing the experience of placing ships and sinking the enemy fleet to the Game Boy Color system. The gameplay of Battleship retains the core rules that made the original board game famous.

Players engage in a head-to-head confrontation, with the objective of destroying all of the opponent's warships. Each player has a grid board (typically 10x10 squares) where they secretly arrange their fleet of ships. The fleet consists of various types of ships of different lengths, for example: Aircraft Carrier (5 squares), Battleship (4 squares), Cruiser (3 squares), Submarine (3 squares), and Destroyer (2 squares). These ships can be placed horizontally or vertically, but they cannot overlap.

After placing their ships, the two players take turns calling out coordinates (e.g., A5, B7) on the opponent's grid. When a coordinate is called, the opponent will announce the result: "Hit" if a part of their ship occupies that square, or "Miss" if the square is empty. If it's a "Hit", the attacking player marks that position on their tracking board. The goal is to continue firing at surrounding squares until all segments of a ship have been hit. Once all squares of a ship have been hit, that ship is considered "Sunk".

The game continues until one of the players sinks the entirety of the opponent's fleet. The first player to do so wins the game. The GBC version of Battleship typically features a single-player mode against AI at various difficulty levels, offering high replayability for players looking to challenge their strategic skills without needing a second opponent.
