Introduce

Centipede & Millipede (GB) is a classic arcade compilation brought to the Game Boy Color, offering fast-paced, challenging shooting action. Both titles share core mechanics: the player controls a laser shooter at the bottom of the screen, moving horizontally and firing upwards to destroy invading insects and mushrooms.

In Centipede, your primary objective is to eliminate a giant, segmented centipede. The centipede moves in a zigzag pattern from the top, changing direction whenever it hits a mushroom or the screen's edge. Shooting a centipede segment turns it into a mushroom. Hitting the centipede's head destroys the entire creature or splits it into smaller centipedes if segments remain. Beyond the centipede, you must contend with other enemies: Fleas constantly drop new mushrooms, Spiders move erratically and eat mushrooms, and Scorpions poison mushrooms, causing the centipede to dive straight down towards the player's area when it touches a poisoned mushroom, increasing the difficulty. The goal is to survive waves of attacks and achieve the highest score.

Millipede builds upon the foundation of Centipede but with a faster pace and a wider variety of enemies. The millipedes in Millipede are generally longer and move more quickly. Additionally, the game introduces several new insect types: Bees fly horizontally, Dragonflies fly vertically, Earwigs move diagonally, and Beetles move horizontally, leaving behind mushrooms. A new feature in Millipede is the appearance of DDT bombs, which allow the player to clear a section of mushrooms and enemies. Mushrooms in Millipede can also regenerate over time, forcing players to constantly clear the battlefield. The Game Boy Color versions of both games retain their addictive gameplay, with graphics and sounds adapted to the console's capabilities, providing an authentic arcade experience right on your handheld device.
