Introduce

In Alleyway, players take on the role of Mario, piloting a small spaceship and controlling a paddle at the bottom of the screen. The primary objective is to destroy all the bricks located at the top of the screen using a bouncing ball.

Each stage presents a different brick layout. Players must move the paddle left or right to intercept the ball and propel it back upwards. If the ball falls off the bottom of the screen, the player loses a life. The game features some special elements. Occasionally, breaking bricks might reveal power-ups, such as increasing the paddle size or changing the ball's speed. There are also bonus stages where bricks move or other obstacles are present. The ball starts at a slow speed, but as more bricks are destroyed or the ball bounces continuously, its speed gradually increases, adding to the challenge.

Once all bricks are destroyed, the player advances to the next stage. There are 32 unique stages in total, after which the stages repeat with increased ball speed. Alleyway is a quintessential example of the brick-breaking genre, offering a simple yet addictive experience.
