Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku on GBA is a side-scrolling action RPG. Players control Goku as he progresses through the main storyline of Dragon Ball Z, from the fight against Raditz to the battle against Frieza. Gameplay focuses on combat, featuring basic attacks, Goku's signature moves like the Kamehameha, and power-up capabilities.
Gameplay is divided into chapters, each corresponding to a section of the story. Between battles, players navigate stages, collecting items and exploring the environment. The combat system is relatively straightforward and easy to learn, yet deep enough to allow for strategic gameplay.
