Introduce

In Vulgus, players control a single spaceship flying through continuously scrolling vertical stages. The primary objective is to destroy the myriad of enemies appearing from all directions and survive their relentless attacks. The gameplay mechanics of Vulgus are relatively simple yet challenging, focusing on dodging skills and quick reflexes.

The player's spaceship is equipped with a basic gun, and can collect power-up items called "Pow" to upgrade it. These "Pow" items may appear after destroying certain enemies or ground structures. Upon collecting "Pow," your weapon will cycle through upgrades, including increased firing speed, enhanced shot power, or wider shot coverage. It is crucial to collect "Pow" strategically to optimize your firepower.

Enemies in Vulgus are diverse, ranging from small fighter planes flying in formations to ground tanks and turrets. Players must be wary of both aerial and ground threats. At the end of each stage or after certain waves of attacks, players will face a boss enemy or a challenging formation that requires more sustained fire and evasive maneuvers. There are no complex weapon selection screens; upgrades happen automatically as you collect "Pow," creating a pure, action-focused shooting experience.

The graphics and sound of Vulgus embody the arcade style of the 80s, with simple yet clear pixel art and distinctive sound effects. This title laid the groundwork for the vertical-scrolling shooter genre and still holds appeal for lovers of classic arcade games.
