Introduce
In Volfied, players control a small spaceship called the Monavel, with the primary objective of claiming a significant portion of the screen by drawing lines. The screen initially starts with a large, dark "danger zone" and a small "safe zone" along the edges.
To claim territory, the player must move the Monavel from a safe or already claimed area into the uncharted territory, draw a path, and then return to a claimed area, forming a closed shape. Any area enclosed by the player's drawn line and the already claimed territory becomes the player's own. Once a certain percentage of the screen (typically 80%) is claimed, the stage is cleared.
However, this process is far from simple. The screen is populated by various types of enemies. Some enemies move freely within the uncharted zone, while others specifically patrol the player's drawn lines. If the Monavel touches an enemy while drawing a line, the player loses a life. Similarly, if the player touches their own drawn line, a life is also lost. There are larger, more formidable enemies, known as "bosses," that appear at the end of each world. These enemies often need to be enclosed multiple times or hit with special power-ups.
Players can collect various power-ups by enclosing areas containing special icons. These power-ups can include increased speed, a laser to shoot enemies, a protective shield, or the ability to slow down enemies. Strategic use of territory claiming and enemy avoidance is key to success in Volfied.
