In Varth - Operation Thunderstorm, players pilot an advanced fighter craft in a battle against alien forces. This classic vertical shoot 'em up stands out with its unique power-up mechanics and challenging gameplay.
The primary objective is to survive waves of enemies, collecting power-up icons to upgrade your weapons. There are various weapon types available, ranging from wide-spreading firepower (spread shot) to powerful lasers (laser) and homing missiles (homing missiles). Each weapon type has its own strengths and weaknesses, allowing players to adapt their strategy.
A distinctive feature of Varth is its "bit" system. These "bits" are small satellites that orbit your spacecraft, providing additional firepower and acting as a defensive shield. Players can collect multiple "bits" and change their formation, creating diverse offensive and defensive patterns. Effectively managing and utilizing these "bits" is crucial for overcoming the game's challenging stages.
The game features multiple stages, each culminating in an intense boss battle. Enemies are diverse, from small fighters to massive war machines, requiring players to possess quick reflexes and adept dodging skills. Additionally, the game supports a two-player simultaneous mode, enhancing replayability and cooperative play.
