Introduce
Twin Qix is an arcade puzzle game based on the classic Qix gameplay. The primary objective for players is to claim a certain percentage of the screen (typically 75%) by drawing lines from the screen's border inwards.
Players control a cursor that can draw two types of lines: slow stix and fast stix. Slow stix are safer but move slowly, while fast stix are quicker but riskier. When a line is drawn and successfully connected back to the border or another previously drawn line, the enclosed area is filled and claimed.
The challenge comes from the main enemies: the Qix and Sparx. The Qix is a geometric entity that moves erratically within the playfield. If the Qix touches the line the player is currently drawing before it's completed, the player loses a life. Similarly, if the Qix touches a claimed area, it can partially destroy it or generate Spikes. Sparx are small sparks that travel along drawn lines or the screen border; touching them also results in losing a life.
Bonus points are awarded for enclosing small areas (Magic Squares) or completing levels quickly. As a prototype version, Twin Qix likely introduces unique variations such as having more than one Qix on screen, or more complex line interaction mechanics, creating a more challenging and dynamic experience compared to the original.
