The game takes place on a board with hexagonal cells, each capable of holding a certain number of 'units', represented by spheres matching the player's color.
On their turn, players drop a sphere into an empty hexagonal cell or a cell already containing their spheres. When a cell contains enough spheres (usually 3), it 'explodes', sending spheres to adjacent hexagonal cells. If the adjacent cells also contain enough spheres, they will also explode, creating a chain reaction.
Strategy in Chain Reaction is crucial. Players need to think ahead with each move to create efficient chain reactions, eliminate opponents, and occupy strategic positions on the board. Predicting and reacting to the opponent's moves is also a key factor in winning. The game has various difficulty levels, from easy to hard, offering an enjoyable experience for players of all skill levels.
